The city of Frisco has a long and pure Texas history. Actually formed in 1902 from the fertile soil of west Collin County's rolling prairie land, settlers first came on the Shawnee Trail. In 1838, a north-south road was built following the Shawnee Trail, through the heart of what is now Frisco. A rail line was completed through Frisco, also in 1902. The railroad subdivided its land and sold the lots to settlers and merchants, which brought slow and steady growth. With 69 square miles of land within its boundaries, Frisco has seen wheat, cotton, corn, and feed become people, houses, businesses, churches, schools, offices, and parks. The City's Master Plan says when Frisco develops fully into its 69 square miles, it may house as many as 350,000 people.
